There are two factors which dictate how we will behave: our values and our personality. Those people who are most likely to make unethical decisions, according to research, are people who value money and wealth over most other things and people to have an external locus of control. People tend to overestimate how ethical they are overall. What our friends and family rates us as tends to be lower than how we see ourselves. Countries can value equality more than hierarchy but it will not fully egalitarian; they are all scales.
